Rollercoaster day ends in a flat finish at 6590 points

It was a rollercoaster of a day on the ASX200 which opened up, hitting a high of 6616 points in the morning session, however, proceeded to fall in the afternoon to 6561 points. In spite of this, the index ended flat for the day as it steadied late afternoon.

The miners outperformed the market with BHP and Rio Tinto (RIO) both closing up 2%.

Biotech giant, CSL, who will take charge of the production of the coronavirus vaccine in Australia, fell 1.16% today and closed back below $300.

  • Mesoblast +7.3%
  • Westgold Resources +6.7%
  • Alumina +4%
  • Perseus Resources +3.9%

The biggest declines were:

  • Nearmap -6%
  • Worley Ltd -3.9%
  • Ansell -2.1%
  • Washington H Soul Pattinson -2.1%
  • TechnologyOne -1.8%
