Australian market drops 0.5% on last night of lockdown
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index shed 0.5% to 6885.20 points as Melbourne nears their last night of lockdown.
Despite the down day, the miners still shone with BHP up 3.40% and Rio Tinto (RIO) up 3.59%. Westpac (WBC) also bucked the trend adding a whopping 4.58% after they released their profit figures for their Q1 2021 report, with profit totaling $2 billion.
On the flip side, it was a day to forget for the supermarket giants as Woolworths (WOW) fell 4.62% and Coles (COL) down a considerable 5.39%.
