ASX up 0.5% to break 6500
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index added 0.5% to break over 6500 points to take the market to a new nine-month high.
The banks dragged the index up once again with Commonwealth Bank (CBA) up 2.86% and Westpac (WBC) adding 2.26%.
Wesfarmers (WES) and Transurban (TCL) also ended the day in the green up 1.42% and 1.55% apiece.

The biggest gainers on Wednesday were:
- Alumina +5.9%
- Whitehaven Coal +5.5%
- Bendigo and Adelaide Bank +4.4%
- Aristocrat Leisure +3.8%
- Polynovo +3.2%
The biggest declines were:
- A2 Milk -4.8%
- Cooper Energy -4.2%
- OZ Minerals -3.6%
- Sandfire Resources -3.4%
- Viva Energy -3.3%
