ASX edges up 0.1% on a relatively flat day

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index nudged up 0.1% to 6191.80 points as energy and the banks perform strongly.

Woodside Petroleum (WPL) was one of the few that greatly outperformed the market, gaining 1.59%. NAB was also in on the action, increasing 1.62%, the largest of the four banks.

Gold is once again creeping up, edging over $1915 per ounce, making the prospect of investing in companies with a gold exposure increasingly more attractive as expectations of further stimulus rise.
