ASX declines 0.4% despite opening up 1%

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index ended up falling by 0.4% today despite the market opening up 1% to start the day. 

The banks and supermarkets were few to outperform the index with ANZ up 1.13% and Coles (COL) up 1.42%.

In contrast to this, the miners ended in the red for the day with BHP down 1.92% and Newcrest Mining (NCM) down 2.45%.

  • SGM +5.22%
  • APE +4.5%
  • NEC +4.42%
  • LYC +3.62%

The biggest declines were:

  • GOR -8.05%
  • OBL -6.99%
  • CIM -6.94%
  • WGX -6.03%
  • Z1P -5.83%
