ASX adds 1.5% to reach 6762 points

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index added 1.5% today in the strongest session in a month to reach 6762.50 points.

The banks once again performed with Commonwealth Bank (CBA) up 2.26% and NAB up 1.81%. The mining sector also played a role in dragging up the index with BHP and Rio Tinto (RIO) up 2.22% and 3.38% each.

In contrast to yesterday, Healthcare lagged behind with Blackmores (BKL) down 3.8% and CSL shedding 1.34%.

The biggest gainers on Tuesday were:

  • Credit Corp +8.8%
  • Tabcorp +8.8%
  • Afterpay +7.9%
  • Webjet +7.5%
  • Nine Entertainment +7.3%

The biggest declines were:

  • URW -7.1%
  • Blackmores -3.8%
  • A2 Milk -3.2%
  • Ramelius Resources -2.9%
  • Tassal Group -2.1%
