Gains from yesterday erased as market sheds 0.9%

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index shed 0.9% today to erase all gains from the previous day of trading to hit 6765 points as the market fell consistently throughout the session.

In a sea of red, Afterpay (APT) and Rio Tinto (RIO) stood out, both ending in the green for the day up 1.45% and 0.46% each. Rival mining giant BHP on the flip side dropped 0.50%.

The banks, despite down for the day, remained relatively flat and outperformed the market. Commonwealth Bank (CBA) was the worst affected from today trading, down 0.6%.

  • ARB Corp +2.7%
  • Netwealth Corp +2.6%
  • Zip Co +2.3%
  • Janus Henderson +2%

The biggest declines were:

  • Origin Energy -6.9%
  • Ramelius Resources -5.5%
  • NRW Holdings -5.5%
  • Virgin Money -5.3%
  • Perseus Mining -4.8%
