ASX streak at an end, down 0.5%

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index fell 0.5% today as a five-day winning streak comes to an end.

Only a handful of our largest companies managed to outperform the market today with the major banks and miners all closing in the red today.

Healthcare and tech stocks did well in the face of this pullback with CSL and Blackmores (BKL) both finishing up for the day while Telstra (TLS) and Afterpay (APT) both closed over 3% higher a piece.

Gainers and Losers

The biggest gainers on Thursday were:

  • Nine Entertainment +5.1%
  • Eagers Automotive +4.8%
  • News Corp +4.5%
  • Lynas Corp +4.5%
  • Polynovo +3.7%

The biggest declines were:

  • Pendal Group -5.5%
  • Whitehaven Coal -4.5%
  • Fortescue Metals -4.3%
  • Service Stream -4.1%
  • Ramelius Resources -3.9%
