Sixth straight week of gains despite vaccine setback
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index was down 0.6% today however marks the sixth straight week of gains, finishing at 6642.60 points.
Major biotech, CSL, weighed down the index dropping 3.24% after it was revealed their vaccine with Queensland University released false positive tests for HIV in the phase 1 trials and therefore halted production.
Afterpay (APT) surged back above $100, adding a whopping 5.02% for the day and being a standout performer among Australia’s largest stocks.

- Whitehaven Coal +6.6%
- Western Areas +5.7%
- Afterpay +5.02%
The biggest declines were:
- Virgin Money UK -4.7%
- NRW Holdings -4.3%
- Lynas -4.2%
- Monadelphous Group -4.2%
- IDP Education -4%
