ASX200 closes out week with strong finish despite slow start

The ASX200 climbed 89 points to reach an end of week daily high of 5964.90, up 1.5% for the day.

This run was largely fueled by the banks which drew a great deal of investor attention, adding a combined $14.50 billion.

Westpac was the greatest beneficiary from this rally gaining an impressive 7.39% by the end of days trading.

Gainers and Losers

The biggest gainers on Friday were:

  • Whitehaven Coal +8% to $1.01
  • Westpac +7.4% to $17.58
  • NAB +6.9% to $18.37
  • ANZ +6.3% to $17.93
  • Bendigo and Adelaide Bank +4.8% to $6.38

The biggest declines were:

  • Monadelphous Group -4% to $10.30
  • Flight Centre -3.1% to $13.20
  • Tassal -3% to $3.53
  • nib Holdings -2.3% to $4.23
  • Perenti Global -2.1% to $1.17
