Aussie market falls 0.2% despite miners efforts to drag index up

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 share index dropped 0.2% today to reach 6,780.9 points to cap off the end of days trading.

The miners did their best efforts to lift the index up with BHP finishing 3.34% stronger and Rio Tinto (RIO) up 3.64%.

Some of the poorer performers for the day were CSL, down 2.42%, Wesfarmers (WES) closing 2.56% lower and NAB down 2.15%.

The biggest gainers on Monday were:

  • Costa Group +13%
  • Webjet +8.9%
  • Sandfire Resources +8.5%
  • Corporate Travel +8.3%
  • Flight Centre +7.2%

The biggest declines were:

  • Appen -4.8%
  • Ansell -4.4%
  • ARB Corp -4.3%
  • Fisher and Paykel -4.2%
  • Platinum Asset -3.7%
